SIX CLASSROOM / ART KILN ROOM ADDITION – JUNE 2007…
The Board of Directors for the American International School - Chennai, voted on 21 March, 2007 to authorize the construction of six additional classrooms and one art kiln room which had been deleted from the third floor construction completed in December of 2006 due to time constraints for completion.
The six classroom addition and the enclosed playground area will be added to the end of the classroom wing A. The additional Art Kiln Room will be added above the seating area to the left of the swimming pool.
The construction will commence as of June 9th. A preliminary construction schedule calls for all pillars and floors to be constructed by the second of August with the third floor roof to be completed by the 22nd of August. All walls and brick cladding are scheduled to be completed by the 20th of September. The completion date for the total project is 15 December, 2007.
The completion of this project will increase the school’s capacity to approximately 650 students. The additional space will allow the school to continue to play a vital role within the infrastructure of Chennai and Tamilnadu as the eastern region of South India moves forward with its efforts to continue attracting multinational corporations and direct overseas investment.
