RAPID GROWTH IN STUDENT ENROLMENT NECESSITATES

MAJOR FACILITIES EXPANSION AT AISC…

Due to the robust growth in student enrolment, 49%  since August 2006, AISC continues to further expand educational facilities to meet demand.

In January of 2007, a 1.5 million third floor expansion project was completed which added 18 classrooms and a second I.T. Lab to the school’s facilities.

In March of 2007, a USD 507,000  Six Classroom/Art Kiln Room expansion project was authorized by the Board of Directors.  The completion of these facilities occurred on  schedule and will come on line in January 2008.

And, on 17th October, 2007 the school’s Board of Directors voted to authorize the construction of three additional Science Labs, a Health classroom, an Art Kiln room and two additional classrooms that could be used for either additional Science Labs or Art Rooms. The ZONE 3 Science Lab, Art/Kiln Room and the Health Room construction will begin in December 2007 and is scheduled for completion by August 2008.

In addition, the Board approved the construction of an additional twenty three classrooms in the form of an EAST BLOCK  Elementary Wing.

It is hoped that the EAST BLOCK Elementary Wing construction will commence in December 2007 as well.  If this construction can be kept to schedule, this new elementary wing will be ready for occupancy in August 2009. Once these two construction projects are completed, it will allow the school to accommodate approximately 900 +/-  students.

The combined ZONE 3 and EAST BLOCK Elementary Wing construction will total USD 3.6 million.

Concurrently with these approved construction projects, the school continues to work with its architects on maximizing the full utilization of the school’s current site.  These plans involve a 500 – 700 student Auditorium, a Music Centre with additional Kitchen Cafeteria space and expanded parking facilities.

This expansion of school facilities will allow the school to continue playing a vital role within the infrastructure of Chennai and Tamilnadu as the eastern region of South India moves forward with its efforts to continue attracting multinational corporations and direct overseas investment.
